About the product.

  • Build quality.

Built to similar standards as a house, these are not glorified sheds; these buildings are designed to be used every day, all year round. There is a clear focus on structural integrity, energy efficient heating and cooling, and effective moisture control so that the buildings will not suffer from damp no matter how much, or how little, you use them. The underlying design philosophy is to scrutinise every aspect of the design to ensure that you receive the best possible blend of performance, compliance and cost. They have a life expectancy of 30 years+.

  • Customer focus.

Some aspects of the design are critically important and hence are fixed such that you can have peace of mind that the building is strong, safe and will last you a lifetime. With the boring bits taken care of this leaves plenty of scope for you to personalise the design such that it is perfectly suited to your needs. Configurable elements could be things like your choice of doors, windows, cladding, flooring, decking, external lighting, or defining the positioning, size and shape of the building

  • No need for planning.

All buildings are designed around UK 'Permitted Development' regulations meaning you will not need planning permission. However, even though you don't need planning permission and will not be subject to building control, the design is already compliant and if you decide to go down the planning route, there won't be any problems getting things signed off.

  • Premium materials.

This is a significant investment and something which you will see and use every day. You want it to look incredible and you want it to feel good every time you interact with it. It should look good in your garden and it should compliment your property and enhance its value. You want every aspect to function perfectly and be a pleasure to use, day in, day out. For that reason the base specification utilises premium materials everywhere that it matters.

  • Low maintenance.

The problem with many garden buildings is that they don’t stay looking good for long because they are not adequately resilient to the British climate (wind, rain and on the odd occasion sun). I believe that a garden building should be designed to stay looking good for 20 or 30 years and not just 1 or 2. Although not easy to do, this can be largely achieved with a well thought out selection of materials and finishes. For example, cedar and larch cladding look stunning but they don’t stay looking good if you don’t immediately apply a UV stabiliser to prevent the sun from causing the colour to fade. The same principal applies to material selection for roofing, decking, doors, windows and even smaller items such as light switches and light fittings. Corner cutting can be a false economy in the long run.

  • Detail matters.

The buildings need to look good and feel good, but at the same time there are many 'invisible' details which are equally important. For example, metal beams above the doors mean the doors work flawlessly, and continue to work that way forever. Or the unique vented cold roof design which utilises hidden vents and attractive breathable design features on the overhangs. There is no need to compromise form over function when you can have both!

About the founder.

  • History.

After spending 20 years working in large engineering companies I decided I wanted to be closer and more connected to the customer and also the end product. What better way to achieve that than to design your own product and seek out your own customers.

I want to be proud of what I am doing, I want to step back at the end of the day and smile and say "I did that". I want to meet every customer, build a relationship and put a huge smile on their face.

  • Mindset.

I am obsessive about detail and I aim to produce work of the highest standard possible. Striving for perfection is what motivates me. As a result, the product I offer will suit those that have an eye for detail, and appreciate the difference between adequate and inspirational.

I treat customers more like temporary business partners and as such all aspects of the project are defined and agreed collaboratively. I am not satisfied with anything less than 100% customer satisfaction.

  • Skills.

My background in engineering has ensured that the buildings are well designed. I take a very thorough approach to understanding the theory on how to design and manufacture buildings and I also consider all the design constraints defined by the latest building regulations. As a result I stand by every aspect of my design philosophy.

My background in project management means that I know how to plan, monitor and control projects effectively. This means that I can keep things under control once work starts and also keep you in the loop.

About the service…

  • Considerate.

Working on somebody else's property has potential to cause disruption, stress and anxiety. I am committed to minimise disruption for you by keeping a very clean and tidy work environment, keeping noise to a minimum (no shouting or blaring radios) and being generally respectful to you and your home.

  • Communicative.

A high standard of communications comes as standard. You will be kept aware of work schedules such as arrival and leaving times, who will be on site, what material deliveries will be happening and when. You can contact me at any time, even outside of working hours.

  • Collaborative.

At the start of the project we will sit down together and work out exactly what you want with sketches, and sample materials. As the build progresses we can continue to discuss your project to ensure that the build is going in the right direction for you. Throughout the build, you will have as much open dialogue with me as you want in order to discuss changes and keep things heading in the right direction.
